I was recuperating from leg straightening surgery passing time by watching the E channel. The E True Hollywood story, Female Body Builders, came on. That was it, I saw all of the women with toned, beautiful bodies and I said, "That's what I want to do"! I immediately ordered "Natural Body Building and Fitness" magazine and started researching. I couldn't really do anything about my goal since I had two spacial frames on my legs, so all I could do was dream and plan. I've always tried to stay active but I've never been a weight lifter, but competition is a great motivator and makes things fun for me. My husband was in Afghanistan at that time and I wasn't sure how he would feel about me strutting my stuff on stage in a bikini! All of the muscles in my legs had completely atrophied due to the surgeries and I knew I had to do something about getting the strength back. After a total of 7 surgeries trying to correct knee pain I knew that these last 2 surgeries were going to do the trick, and the upcoming workouts were going to build leg strength that would keep my knee caps finally aligned.
